ICC Profile Settings

Use this section to configure the settings related to color separation in profile conversion and the size of the ICC profile.

In the fields where you can enter numeric values, use the keyboard to enter values or to increment and decrement the values by pressing the Up and Down arrow keys. As an alternative, you can scroll up and down in the fields to increment or decrement the values. To increment or decrement a value by a larger unit, hold Ctrl while pressing Up or Down, or while scrolling up or down in that field.

GCR Ratio (%)
Specifies the amount of color ink that can be replaced with black (GCR). The mixed color of cyan, magenta, and yellow becomes gray, so it can be replaced with black (GCR).

The value must be at least 0% and no more than 100%. The default value is 100%.

The amount of color ink replaced by black increases as you specify a greater value. The gray tone becomes more stable, and the amount of ink consumption decreases. However, the parts printed with the same color might appear grainy.

Point to Start Using K (%)
Specifies the point to start replacing cyan, magenta, and yellow with black.

The value must be at least 0% and no more than 90%. Enter 40% to make black spots that appear in light parts less noticeable. For a consistent finish, enter 10% or 20%. If you enter a value closer to 0%, brighter colors are replaced with black. If the data is almost black and white, it is recommended to enter 0%. The default value is 30%.

Applicable Range of K (%)
Specifies the amount of the mixed colors of cyan, magenta, and yellow to be replaced with black in the areas with vivid colors. If you specify a larger value, the mixed colors of cyan, magenta, and yellow are replaced with black in the areas with vivid colors. If you enter a lower value, only the mixed colors close to gray are replaced with black.

The value must be at least 0% and no more than 100%. The default value is 100%.

It is recommended to enter a value between 80% and 100%. However, if the gamut of vivid colors appears grainy, enter a lower value.

Total Amount of Toner/Ink (%)
Specifies the maximum amount of ink or toner indicated in the ICC profile generated by the Quick Color Adjustment function.

The value must be at least 100% and no more than 400%. The default value is 100%.

ICC Profile Size
Specifies the file size of the ICC profile created with the Quick Color Adjustment function.
Small
The size of the ICC profile is small. The resulted ICC profile ensures the least precise color conversion.
Medium
The size of the ICC profile is medium. The resulted ICC profile ensures a medium precise color conversion.
Large (default)
The size of the ICC profile is large. The resulted ICC profile ensures a highly precise color conversion.
Extra Large
The size of the ICC profile is extra large. The resulted ICC profile ensures the most precise color conversion.

The larger the file, the more precise the color conversion. However, if the file is larger, it takes longer to complete the process of creating the ICC profile.
