Printers
To access the Printers page, go to the Configuration page and select Manage Printers. On the Printers page, you can add a printer, and edit or delete an existing printer. You can also refresh, sort, and filter the list of printers.
- Note:
- You can add a printer only if at least one location is already created. Therefore, if the Printers section on the Configuration page is disabled, create at least one printer location first. For more information, see Locations.
- For information about working with objects, see Managing Objects.
Adding a Printer
On the Add Printer page, specify details related to the new printer.
- Name
- Specifies the name of the new printer and is a required field. The printer name must be unique, and must be at least 2 and no more than 250 characters in length. The data type you can enter in this field is string.
- Location
- Specifies the location of the new printer. The list contains all the printer locations defined on the Locations page. If the location you want to select is not in the list, go to the Locations section and create it.
- Scanner
- Specifies the scanner that you want to use with the printer you are creating. The list contains the names of the scanners defined in the desktop application settings, in the Scanner Settings section.
- DFE Type
- Specifies the DFE that you are using with your printer. The list contains the supported DFE types to which the ICC profile is imported automatically when you are using the Quick Color Adjustment function. If the DFE that you are using is not displayed in the list, select Other. If you select Other, the following options are no longer displayed: DFE Host, Printer Manufacturer, DFE Server Name, DFE Password. If you select a TotalFlow Print Server controller, the DFE Server Name field is not displayed.
- Printer Manufacturer

The DFE Host must be at least 1 and no more than 100 characters. Characters allowed in this field include uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), digits (0-9), and the special characters period (.), and hyphen (-). However, you can use period (.) and hyphen (-) only inside the value, and not at the start and end of the value entered in the DFE Host field.
- DFE Server Name
- Specifies the name of the DFE server you are using. This field is required if you
are using one of the supported Fiery DFE types. In this field, enter the server name of the DFE that you are using. The
DFE Server Name must be at least 1 and no more than 100 characters.
- Note:
- The DFE Server Name must match the server name set on your DFE. Otherwise, the automatic import of the ICC profile created with the Quick Color Adjustment function fails.
- To find the server name of your Fiery DFE, open the Fiery Command WorkStation. For more information, see the user documentation of your DFE.
- DFE Password
- Specifies the password of your DFE. In this field, enter the password of the DFE that you are using. The password must be no more than 100 characters in length.

Once you save a new printer, it is displayed on the Printers page. The new printer is also displayed on the Add Paper and Edit Paper pages.
Once you add a chart on the Color Charts page, the paper you select for that chart is also displayed on the Printers page, as additional information for the corresponding printer. To display the printer details, expand the row containing that printer. For details about expanding and collapsing rows, see Expanding an Object or Section and Collapsing an Object or Section.
Adding the first printer after you install the application enables the Manage Paper Catalog button on the Configuration page.
Editing a Printer
Use the Edit Printer page to edit the details related to an existing printer. For details about the values you can enter in each field, see Adding a Printer.
Deleting a Printer
You can delete a printer only if there is no color chart defined for that printer.
