Task checklist

Here are the tasks you need to complete in this chapter. Check each item as you complete the task.

	Task
	Preparing the primary computer Before you install any application or remote secondary servers you must export the `/aiw` file system and create an application or secondary server object in RICOH ProcessDirector. If you plan to use NFS on an application server, you must also verify that an NFS server is installed and started on the primary computer. If you plan to use Samba on an application server, you do not need to install NFS.
	Installing on Linux systems Use this procedure to install a secondary server.
	Preparing a Windows application server When you install an application server on Windows, you are required to mount the `/aiw` file system from the primary computer so the Windows application server has write access to the /aiw file system as the system user (aiw1 is the default).
	Installing application servers on Windows computers After you have completed the prerequisite steps, you can install an application server on a Windows system in your network.
	Configuring an application server to run as a service Application servers can be configured to run as Windows services. Windows services can be set up to start automatically when a user logs in to the system.
