Creating a Mark Profile with Barcodes and Registration Marks for DUPLO DC-645

This example shows how to create a mark profile with barcodes and registration marks for jobs that are processed with a DUPLO DC-645 finishing device. The mark profile lets you automate the finishing process. The barcode encodes the finishing profile number, which determines the cutting and folding pattern required for the job. The registration mark helps the device align each sheet of paper accurately before cutting or folding.
To create the mark profile:
  1. On the DUPLO DC-645 finishing device, define finishing profiles and assign a number to each profile.
This number is used to generate the barcode. For more information on finishing profiles, see the documentation for your finishing device.
  2. On the Advanced Imposition screen, click Configuration button, the Configuration button, and select Marks Editor.
  3. On the Marks Profile screen, click New Profile.
Enter a name for the profile in the New Profile Name dialog box and click OK.
  4. Click the Press Paper tab.
  5. To add the barcode, click Add Barcode....

    4. Under Data Type, select Text.
    5. Under Data Source, select Job Comment.
The barcode encodes the job comment specified in the Description field on the Job Setup panel. When the job is processed, the DUPLO finishing device scans the barcode and determines the cutting and folding pattern based on the encoded finishing profile number.
    6. Under # of Characters, enter 2.
Two characters are required because the finishing profile numbers for the DUPLO DC-645 finishing device are between 01 and 88.
    7. In the Height field, enter 8 mm.
The DUPLO DC-645 finishing device reads barcodes with a height of 8 millimeters.
    8. In the Narrow field, enter 0.2430 mm.
This value sets the width of the narrowest bars in the barcode.
    9. In the Narrow/Wide Ratio field, enter 3.
This value determines the width of the thickest bars.
    10. In the Top/Bottom white border field, enter the width of the white border on the top and bottom of the barcode.
In this example, the width is 3 millimeters.
    11. In the Left/Right white border field, enter the width of the white border on the left and right of the barcode.
In this example, the width is 3 millimeters.

Specify whether to place the text on top of the barcode or at the bottom of the barcode. In the Text size field, enter the size of the text.

In this example, the text is printed at the bottom and the font size is 6 points.
