Creating a Mark Profile with Barcodes and Registration Marks for DUPLO DC-645
This example shows how to create a mark profile with barcodes and registration marks
for jobs that are processed with a DUPLO DC-645 finishing device. The mark profile
lets you automate the finishing process. The barcode encodes the finishing profile
number, which determines the cutting and folding pattern required for the job. The
registration mark helps the device align each sheet of paper accurately before cutting
or folding.
- On the DUPLO DC-645 finishing device, define finishing profiles and assign a number
to each profile.This number is used to generate the barcode. For more information on finishing profiles, see the documentation for your finishing device.
- On the Advanced Imposition screen, click
, the Configuration button, and select Marks Editor.
- On the Marks Profile screen, click New Profile.Enter a name for the profile in the New Profile Name dialog box and click OK.
- Click the Press Paper tab.
- To add the barcode, click Add Barcode....
- In the Select Barcode dialog box, click Barcode Editor....
- On the Bar Code Settings screen, follow these steps:
- To create a new barcode profile, click
, the folder icon.
Enter a name for the profile in the New Profile dialog box and click OK. - In the Type list, select Code 39 - Text and Number.The DUPLO DC-645 finishing device supports the Code 39 barcode format.
- Select the check box next to Field 1.
- Under Data Type, select Text.
- Under Data Source, select Job Comment.The barcode encodes the job comment specified in the Description field on the Job Setup panel. When the job is processed, the DUPLO finishing device scans the barcode and determines the cutting and folding pattern based on the encoded finishing profile number.
- Under # of Characters, enter 2.Two characters are required because the finishing profile numbers for the DUPLO DC-645 finishing device are between 01 and 88.
- In the Height field, enter 8 mm.The DUPLO DC-645 finishing device reads barcodes with a height of 8 millimeters.
- In the Narrow field, enter 0.2430 mm. This value sets the width of the narrowest bars in the barcode.
- In the Narrow/Wide Ratio field, enter 3.This value determines the width of the thickest bars.
- In the Top/Bottom white border field, enter the width of the white border on the top and bottom of the barcode.In this example, the width is 3 millimeters.
- In the Left/Right white border field, enter the width of the white border on the left and right of the barcode.In this example, the width is 3 millimeters.
- Select the Display Barcode Text check box if you also want to print the text that is encoded in the barcode.Specify whether to place the text on top of the barcode or at the bottom of the barcode. In the Text size field, enter the size of the text.
In this example, the text is printed at the bottom and the font size is 6 points.
- To save the barcode profile, click OK.
- To create a new barcode profile, click
- In the Select Barcode dialog box, select the barcode profile that you created and click OK.
- Make sure that the barcode profile is selected in the Press Paper tab and follow these steps in the settings area on the right:
- Under Side, select Front Side if you want to print the barcode on the front side of sheets or Back Side if you want to print it on the back side.In this example, the barcode is printed on the front side of the sheet.
- Under Constraints, select the Print Mark on All Sheets check box.All the sheets in the job must have the same barcode because the DUPLO DC-645 finishing device processes one sheet at a time.
- Under Choose the Position on Sheet, select the top-right corner.
- To set the exact position of the barcode, enter -1" in the Offset X field and -0.25" in the Offset Y field.
- Under Side, select Front Side if you want to print the barcode on the front side of sheets or Back Side if you want to print it on the back side.
- To add the registration mark, click Add Mark....
- In the Select Custom Mark dialog box, select the Reg Mark - DuploRegMark custom mark and click OK.
- Make sure that the custom mark is selected in the Press Paper tab and follow these steps in the settings area on the right:
- Under Side, select Front Side if you want to print the mark on the front side of sheets or Back Side if you want to print it on the back side.In this example, the mark is printed on the front side of the sheet.
- Under Constraints, select the Print Mark on All Sheets check box.
- Under Choose the Position on Sheet, select the top-right corner.
- Under Mark Anchor Point, select the top-right corner.The mark anchor point is the starting point from which the mark is generated.
- Under Side, select Front Side if you want to print the mark on the front side of sheets or Back Side if you want to print it on the back side.
- To save the mark profile, click OK.
