InfoPrint Manager environment variables

These tables describe the environment variables that affect how InfoPrint processes commands and utilities.

InfoPrint Manager environment variables defaulted or set for InfoPrint Manager for AIX, InfoPrint Manager for Linux, and InfoPrint Manager for Windows

Variable Description
AFPREORDER_REV_STRIP_LIKE_IMM When AFPREORDER_REV_STRIP_LIKE_IMM is set to any value, InfoPrint Manager keeps the IMM (Invoke Medium Map) only if the name of the IMM changes from the prior medium map in use. This environment variable is ignored when the reverse-page-order attribute has not been specified.
PATH

With InfoPrint Manager for AIX, the directories that AIX searches for command files. Separate multiple directories by a colon, :.

PCL2AFP_EMULATE_SIMPLEX When PCL2AFP_EMULATE_SIMPLEX is set to 1, the pcl2afp transform emulates the plexing from the input file using blank pages. No form definitions are used. This is commonly used for printers that do not support form definitions.
    Note:
  1. After defining this environment variable, you must restart the computer to take effect in InfoPrint Manager.
  2. If you want to disable this emulation mechanism, you must remove the environment variable and you must restart the computer.
PDHOST Identifies the host clients use to sent request to InfoPrint Manager.
PDIDTABLE Defines the upper limit (boundary) of local job identifiers that InfoPrint can assign for each user before wrapping to 1. The maximum valid integer is 32767. If you do not set a value, InfoPrint uses 100 as the upper limit. Setting the value to a lower value decreases memory usage but increases the chances of duplicate local job identifiers. Setting the value to 0 disables the mapping function; all local IDs will be set to 0 and you cannot reference jobs by the local IDs.
PD_IP_VERSION

This system environment variable is used by the InfoPrint Manager server and clients to force the applications to use IPv4 addresses (if its value is set to 4) or IPv6 addresses (if its value is set to 6). If you do not set this environment variable, InfoPrint Manager server and clients use all available IPv4 and/or IPv6 addresses.

Enabling SAP Server IPv6 socket communication
If your SAP Server is configured for IPv6 communication, in order for the InfoPrint Manager SAP Callback Daemon to work, you must set the environment variable SAP_IPv6_ACTIVE with the value 1, both on the SAP Server system and also on the InfoPrint Manager server. In this case, the InfoPrint Manager server must also run on a system that is IPv6 enabled.
Enabling IPv6 socket communication for InfoPrint Manager Java components
For InfoPrint Manager components that use Java on the server or client side (for example: IPP Gateway), you can force an IPv6 configuration by setting the _JAVA_OPTIONS system environment variable. The value of _JAVA_OPTIONS must include -Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=false.
PDNOTIFY With the InfoPrint Select client:
  • When PDNOTIFY is set to any value, the InfoPrint Select client does not create a notification-profile for the jobs it sends to the InfoPrint Manager Server.
  • When PDNOTIFY is not set to any value, the InfoPrint Select client creates a notification-profile for the jobs it sends to the InfoPrint Manager Server.
PDPATH A path of directories that InfoPrint searches for the file name specified by the -Xattributes file name flag. Separate multiple directories by a colon, :. If the PDPATH environment variable does not exist, InfoPrint uses the current working directory of the person submitting the command.

PDPRINTER Used as the default logical destination when you do not specify the -dDestinationName, the -pDestinationName flag, or the destination-name-requested job attribute.

InfoPrint also uses this variable to identify the server for other commands.
PD_CONFIRM_DELETE Specifies whether InfoPrint issues a confirmation message before deleting an object.

PD_ENABLE_TIMEOUT Specifies the number of seconds that a server waits for an actual destination to register when the actual destination is enabled.

PD_LISTEN_COUNT Specifies the number of simultaneous requests that a server can process. If this number is exceeded, the server issues an error message.

PD_SOCKET Identifies the port number used by the InfoPrint communications daemon. It also identifies the port number clients use to send requests to the Infoprint Server. Internet services reserve socket numbers up to 255. Other non-InfoPrint services reserve socket numbers in the range 256 through 1023. To determine the socket numbers already reserved before assigning a socket number to an InfoPrint communications daemon, look at the contents of the /etc/services file.

Note: On Windows, if you use the MMC Server Configuration window to change the client interface port number, InfoPrint Manager sets the PD_SOCKET variable as the port number.
PSFDBLANG The language and code page used by the db2afp transform program.

j (Japanese, code page 943), c (Traditional Chinese, code page 950), je (Japanese EUC), ce (Traditional Chinese EUC), ke (Korean EUC)
PSFPATH A path of directories that InfoPrint searches for print resources (fonts, form definitions, overlays, page definitions, and page segments). Separate multiple directories by a colon, :.

InfoPrint Manager environment variables can be defaulted or set for InfoPrint Manager for AIX or InfoPrint Manager for Linux

Variable Description
GIF2AFP_option Specifies options for the GIF2AFP transform command. See gif2afp command: transforms GIF data to AFP.
IPIN_DBG Setting this environment variable value to TRUE enabled debug information to be collected for the installer scripts.
IPM_USER Specifies the user name used to run the InfoPrint Manager product.
IPR_PREDPROD Used during migration to specify the product that preceded InfoPrint.

JPEG2AFP_option Specifies options for the JPEG2AFP transform command. See jpeg2afp command: transforms JPEG data to AFP.
MANPATH A path of directories that AIX or Linux searches for man pages. Separate multiple directories by a colon, :.

PDBASE Specifies the root directory where the InfoPrint server stores all of its working files, such as log or trace files. Each server has its own subdirectory under this directory to avoid name conflicts when multiple servers are on the same AIX or Linux processor.

PD_MAX_PIPES Overrides the Infoprint Servers default starting number of named pipes (512). This only applies to the pdserver starting point for pipes.
Note: Setting this value high can affect the startup and shut down time for the pdserver. This variable also affects the SAP Callback daemon and the Notification Server. Both of these are allocated ten named pipes by default and do not need more. Be careful not to increase the number of named pipes these processes obtain.
PDNAMESP Specifies the namespace.

PD_SAVE_TRACE Specifies that InfoPrint Manager renames and compresses the trace.log.BAK file when a server or an SAP Callback daemon is restarted. See log-backup-number for other ways to save additional trace logs.
PD_SUBMITTER_IP_ ADDRESS_FORMAT Adds the client-ip-address to the job-owner information stored in the servers accounting log for any remote print request submitted through the pdservers started with this environment variable set to IPADDR. Remote print requests do not include requests that go through a receiver, such as IPP Gateway or Download for z/OS, before being submitted to the InfoPrint Manager Server.
PPO_DEFAULT_ENV The fully qualified name of the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface environment file, which contains a shell script that defines all other InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface environment variables.

TIFF2AFP_option Specifies options for the TIFF2AFP transform command. See tiff2afp command: transforms TIFF data to AFP.
TYPESETTER Determines how troff files are processed for printing.

XBMLANGPATH A path of directories that AIX searches for the icons used by graphical user interfaces. Separate multiple directories by a colon, :.

InfoPrint environment variables can be defaulted or set for InfoPrint Manager for Linux

Variable Description
PD_DATE_FORMAT With InfoPrint Manager for Linux, use PD_DATE_FORMAT to specify a custom format that is used when you enter or display calendar values. For example, if you want to input USA formatted calendar date the same way as you do on AIX, then you need to set PD_DATE_FORMAT to %m/%d/%y.
    Note:
  • By default, on AIX and Linux the local time format is defined by the element D_FMT of the LC_TIME locale category. On Windows, InfoPrint Manager uses the locale time formatting string.
  • After defining or removing these environment variables, restart the computer so that these changes take effect in InfoPrint Manager.
PD_THRMEM_THREADSHOLD Specifies the maximum percent out of total virtual memory to be used for the threads stacks.

Between 10 and 90.

PD_TIME_FORMAT With InfoPrint Manager for Linux, use PD_TIME_FORMAT to specify a custom format that is used when you enter or display time values. For example, if you want to input USA formatted time the same way as you do on AIX, then you need to set PD_TIME_FORMAT to %H:%M:%S.
    Note:
  • By default, on AIX and Linux the local time format is defined by the element T_FMT of the LC_TIME locale category. On Windows, InfoPrint Manager uses the locale time formatting string.
  • After defining or removing these environment variables, restart the computer so that these changes take effect in InfoPrint Manager.
PD_USEMEMCLEANUP By default is Off because it is decreasing server performance. If set, then InfoPrint Manager recycles objects and puts them on disk and by doing this will free some memory.

InfoPrint environment variables set in the InfoPrint SMIT Operator's Interface environment file for InfoPrint Manager for AIX

Variable Description
PPO_CANCEL_ALL_OPTION Specifies whether operators have the option of cancelling all jobs.
Values:
0 (no), 1 (yes)

PPO_FORM The list of forms (media) that your printing operation can use. Separate form names by blanks.
PPO_JOB_BATCH The list of job batches that your printing operation can use. Separate job batch names by blanks.
PPO_JOB_DETAILS_ATTRS The job and document attributes that are displayed in the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface job status window. Separate attribute names by commas.
PPO_LP The name of the default logical destination to which the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface resubmits print jobs.
PPO_LPS The names of logical destinations that are available for job submission. Separate logical destination names by blanks.
PPO_PP_ATTRS The actual destination attributes that are displayed in the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface destination status window. Separate attribute names by commas.
PPO_PPS The names of the actual destinations that the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface manages. Separate actual destination names by blanks.
PPO_QUEUE The name of the queue that the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface manages.
PPO_QUEUE_ATTRS The queue attributes that are displayed in the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface queue status window. Separate attribute names by commas.
PPO_QUEUE_INFO_FILE In installations that use multiple queues, the name of the file that maps queues to their environment files.
PPO_SERVER The name of the server that the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface manages.
PPO_TRACE_FILE The name of the file containing trace records for the InfoPrint SMIT operator's interface. Use this environment variable only under the direction of Ricoh service.

AIX or Linux language environment variables

Variable Description
LANG The name of the locale to use for locale categories when neither LC_ALL nor the corresponding environment variable beginning with LC_ specifies a locale. Used to determine the language, territory, or character set of messages and other information that InfoPrint sends to a person.

NLSPATH A path of directories that AIX or Linux searches for locale-dependent files. Separate multiple directories by a colon, :.
PD_LANG Lets you input English and still receive results in your language. If you set PD_LANG=en_US and you are running in German (de_DE), you could enter pdls -c destination or -r brief servername, and the results are displayed in German.

InfoPrint Manager environment variables can be defaulted or set for InfoPrint Manager for AIX

PDENQ_IGNORE_AUXILIARY_SHEETS When PDENQ_IGNORE_AUXILIARY_SHEETS is set to any value, InfoPrint Manager ignores the auxiliary sheet creation requests from lpr commands.
