Using TrueType and OpenType fonts

In the Unicode environment, the sap2afp transform supports the use of TrueType and OpenType fonts for actual destinations that support them. This support consists of one set of Unicode configuration files and resources for the TrueType/OpenType fonts. By default, these configuration files map the WorldType fonts, which is a set of OpenType/TrueType fonts provided by InfoPrint Manager, but you can change them to map any OpenType/TrueType fonts that you have. For SAP OTF input files with TrueType inline fonts, the transform will output AFP data containing the referenced TrueType fonts as inline resources. The TrueType fonts and the resources are used only when the -truetype parameter is passed to the sap2afp transform specifying the use the TrueType configuration files, and if present, TrueType fonts from the OTF files. InfoPrint Manager passes this parameter to the transform, depending on the values of the these InfoPrint Manager attributes:

  • font-resolution
  • default-font-resolution
  • font-resolutions-supported

Note: Unless you explicitly specify that TrueType/OpenType fonts are used, the system uses the AFP Migration Fonts for Unicode processing.

If you do not specify any value for font-resolution or you leave its default value, InfoPrint Manager passes the -truetype parameter to the transform only if the actual destination's default-font-resolution attribute value is set to open-type. When a job does have a font-resolution attribute specified, InfoPrint Manager passes the -truetype parameter to the transform only if its value is set to open-type, regardless of the default-font-resolution value.
