Using a Windows gateway printer

A Windows gateway printer is a Windows shared printer that you create on your InfoPrint Manager server system. This lets users anywhere in the network to submit print jobs through InfoPrint Manager. InfoPrint Manager organizes everyone's print jobs by putting them in a print queue in the order that it receives them, then sends them all to the correct printers. In addition, if you have InfoPrint Manager notifications running on your workstation, InfoPrint manager sends you messages about the status of your print job.

Users must follow the instructions in Adding a Windows gateway printer to a workstation to add the Windows gateway printer to their desktops. Administrator's can use the Management Console to create and administer a Windows gateway printer. The Management Console help includes instructions.

Note: When InfoPrint Manager is uninstalled, all Windows Gateway printers are deleted. Therefore, you must have your users manually delete the Windows Gateway printer from their desktops after the uninstall.
