Ways to locate

InfoPrint Manager clients and submission daemons locate a pdserver by using the host name of the server and the client port number that the server is listening on. They use their own stored information, the /var/lib/pd/pdserver.conf file, or two environment variables:

  1. PDHOST defines which machine the server is on
  2. PD_SOCKET defines which port the server is listening for client requests on

InfoPrint Manager servers locate each other by using the InfoPrint Manager namespace. The location information in the namespace includes:

  1. Host name on which the pdserver is running
  2. TCP/IP port number on which the pdserver is listening for requests from other pdservers
