Defining secondary servers on the primary computer
You can define a secondary server directly on the primary server to distribute processing
and improve the performance of your system. No additional software is required on
the primary computer.
To define a secondary server on the primary computer:
- Click the Administration tab.
- In the left pane, click .
- On the Servers page, click Add and choose Secondary Server.
- Fill in the values as required.
- For the Computer IP address or host name property, enter: localhost
- For the In general server pool property, choose whether you want the secondary server to be used for any steps or for only certain steps. Select Yes to run any steps on this server; select No to limit this server to specific steps.
- Click OK.
- If you set In general server pool to No, tune the step templates that you want to run on this server.
- Click the Workflow tab.
- In the left pane, click Step Templates.
- Click the name of the step template to tune.
- In the property notebook, click the Tuning tab.
- For the Servers to use property, select Run on specific servers, then select the server you just created.
- Click OK.
