Use unique server names
Naming conventions for InfoPrint Manager server objects should be consistent and clear. Often, the servername reflects the
location of the server or some other unique characteristic, such as boulder1
or Infoprt2
. Traditional naming conventions have included an -ld
for logical destinations, a -q
for queues, and an -ad
for actual destinations. For example, server boulder1
has three actual destinations, two logical destinations, and one queue. The server
name is boulder1
; the actual destination names are printer1-ad
, printer2-ad
, and printer3-ad
; the logical destination names are ip4000-ld
and printers-ld
; and the queue name that contains all these actual destinations
and logical destinations is boulder1-q
. Remember, a naming convention should be used that is consistent and clearly describes
each object.
