Submitting print jobs through the LPD from Linux, and other UNIX systems

You can use any LPR client, but to be able to specify advanced InfoPrint options on the -o flag, you must make sure that your LPR client supports -o options. Sample code for an InfoPrint LPR client called lprafp is provided with InfoPrint Manager for Linux and is available from the /usr/lpp/psf/utils/lpr directory. This directory contains sample code of the lprafp client for UNIX platforms. This code must be compiled as described in the README file, or you can download the binary files from this link: https://dl.ricohsoftware.com/downloads/375bc3fe-3080-401f-91c4-2b8adb607f89.

Regardless of what LPD subsystem you decide to use, we recommend that you specify it in the /etc/inittab file to make sure that the client starts on a system reboot and is always available.
