Performance
You can tune RICOH ProcessDirector to improve performance.
In this section:
- Defining secondary servers on the primary computerYou can define a secondary server directly on the primary server to distribute processing and improve the performance of your system. No additional software is required on the primary computer.
- Using multiple file systems to distribute spool I/O on primary computerYou can distribute I/O activity across multiple file systems to improve throughput.
- Tuning Java memory allocationAllocating more memory to Java often improves the performance of RICOH ProcessDirector. However, it is imperative that you take several factors into consideration before you change this configuration.
- Scheduling automatic maintenanceRICOH ProcessDirector provides maintenance scripts that must be run regularly on the primary computer to improve performance. By default, RICOH ProcessDirector runs these scripts every day at midnight. You can change the time or frequency, and you can run your own maintenance scripts at the same time.
- Compressing filesYou can save disk space by compressing the files related to jobs.
- Performance and capacity considerations with document processing featuresKeep these performance and system capacity considerations in mind as you configure and use document processing features, such as Archive, Postal Enablement, Inserter support, and the Advanced Document Pool extended feature.
