Installing the InfoPrint Manager AIX client
Important: The InfoPrint Manager AIX client and the InfoPrint Manager server are available in these languages:
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Spanish
To install the InfoPrint Manager AIX client on an AIX system where you have not installed the server:
- Log onto AIX as root.
- Insert the InfoPrint Manager: Common Clients DVD-ROM, LCD4-5642, into the drive.
- If this is the first time you are installing software on this AIX system, create the
/cdrom file system.
- Start the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT).
- To start the AIX windows version of SMIT, enter this command:
smit cdrfs
- To start the ASCII version of SMIT, enter this command:
smitty cdrfs

DVDROM File Systems Move cursor to desired item and press Enter. Add a DVDROM File System Change / Show Characteristics of a DVDROM File System Remove a DVDROM File System 1=Help F2=Refresh F3=Cancel F8=Image F9=Shell F10=Exit Enter=Do
- To start the AIX windows version of SMIT, enter this command:
- Select Add a DVDROM File System.

Add a DVDROM File System Type or select values in entry fields. Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes. ^Entry Fields| * DEVICE Name + * MOUNT Point ^| Mount AUTOMATICALLY at system restart? no + 1=Help F2=Refresh F3=Cancel F4=List F5=Reset F6=Command F7=Edit F8=Image F9=Shell F10=Exit Enter=Do
- In the DEVICE name field, enter the identifier of your DVD-ROM drive.
- In the MOUNT POINT field, enter
/cdrom
. - Click OK (AIX and Windows version) or press Enter (ASCII version).
- Click Cancel (AIX and Windows version) or press F10 (ASCII version) to exit from SMIT.
- Start the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT).
- To mount the DVD-ROM, enter:
mount /cdrom
- Enter this command to install the AIX client:
/cdrom/setup -c -n ServerName -p PortNumber -P DestinationName -L locale
where:- ServerName
- is the name of the host where the InfoPrint Manager server you want to communicate with (PDHOST) is running.
- PortNumber
- is the number of the port for the InfoPrint Manager server, usually 6874 (PD_SOCKET). Remember to select one that is running in your language.
- DestinationName
- is the default logical destination that the AIX client submits jobs to. The -PDestinationName flag is optional.
- locale
- is the locale of the AIX client. The default is en_US (U. S. English). The -Llocale flag is optional.
- When the command completes processing, you should shutdown and restart your AIX server so that all changes can take effect.
