Using the Job Settings dialog

You can change several settings related to the print job by using the Job Settings dialog. The changes you make in the Job Settings dialog affect only the current job. The Job Settings dialog is disabled by default. To activate the Jobs Settings dialog, select Activate Job Settings Dialog from the InfoPrint Select menu. The tabs/pages associated with this dialog are:

General Attributes page

Use this page to choose a job name and display the name and address of the job owner. You can set these values:
Job name
Indicates the name of the job you are submitting. By default, the application from which you are submitting the job specifies the job name. To specify a different name for the job, enter the new name in the field. Depending on the Select configuration, this name can print on the start sheet for the job.
Owner
Indicates the user name and address of the job sender. This field cannot be changed.

To submit a confidential job, select the Confidential job checkbox. If you select the Confidential job checkbox, the document cannot be viewed in the JobViewer.

On this page you can check the Do not display this dialog again checkbox to disable this dialog. If you check this box, the dialog does not display when you send print jobs. The Job Settings dialog is disabled by default. If you decide that you want to enable this dialog, select Activate Job Settings Dialog from the InfoPrint Select menu.

Scheduling Attributes

You can use this page to control when your print job is printed. You can set these values:
Print After
Set the date, time or partial time when jobs submitted to this printer will begin to be scheduled. To fill in the desired date and time:
  1. Click in the Print after checkbox to place a check in the box.
  2. Select the unit you want to change (year, month, day, hour minute) in the Change pull-down menu on the right.
  3. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the desired Print after time.
Discard After
Set the date, time or partial time when jobs submitted to this printer will be deleted, whether they have printed. To fill in the desired date and time:
  1. Click in the Discard after checkbox to place a check in the box.
  2. Select the unit you want to change (year, month, day, hour minute) in the Change pull-down menu on the right.
  3. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the desired Discard after time.
Retention Period
Set the amount of time that the job will be retained at the server before it is deleted. To fill in the desired date and time:
  1. Select the unit you want to change (hours, 10-minutes, minutes) in the Change pull-down menu on the right.
  2. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the desired retention period.
Priority
Type the desired priority value into the field. The Priority field displays a number representing the scheduling priority of this job. A print job can have a priority of 1-100, where 100 is the highest priority. General users can set a priority of up to 50; administrators can set a priority of up to 100.
Hold
When you check the Hold checkbox, the print job is held on the server, and the job-hold attribute is set to True or Yes.

Messages page

You can use this page to create a job comment or a message for the print operator. You can set these values:
Job comment
Use this field to record any comments about your print job.
Message to operator
Use this field to include a message that Select sends to an operator when it adds your job to the queue. You might want to include information that describes any special handling that your job requires.

Other Attributes page

Use this page to choose additional job and document attributes for a print job. Attributes are used for advanced printing and production printing to specify how and when jobs submitted to this printer will print.
Attributes File
Type the name of the file containing additional job and document attributes for the print job. If you click Browse..., the Open Dialog is displayed and you can search for an attributes file. You can use one of the sample attributes files as a guide in creating your own customized set of attributes.
Attributes
You can type additional attributes and their values in this field, in the format attribute = value (for example, job-priority = 25)
Printer options
Use this field to directly pass flags and options to the printer device. Select appends the information you supply to the printer-command attribute for the printer. If the printer device is controlled by the BSD device support system, Select appends the information you supply to the printer-command attribute for the printer.
Checkboxes
Suppress job submission error messages: Check this box to suppress job submission error messages to allow unattended operation.

Re-spool jobs if submission fails: Check this box to automatically re-spool failed job submissions. Re-spooled jobs are placed in the print queue in a hold state.
