Creating a DPF host receiver

Complete these configuration worksheets. Only the PSF actual destination and Port number values are required to create a receiver; if you're not sure what to fill in for the rest of the items, you can accept the defaults and change the values in the receiver later.

DPF host receiver worksheet

Management Console Prompt	Description	Value
Logical unit alias name	Because DPF connects to InfoPrint Manager over TCP/IP, you will not use the LU alias, however, knowing it will help you figure out the TCP/IP connection.
PSF actual destination	The name of the actual destination object that this receiver will send jobs to. Note: This name is case-sensitive.
Port number	The port that the host receiver will use to communicate with the host system.
Description	Text to describe this receiver (optional).
Submission priority	The relative importance of jobs submitted by this receiver. 1 is the highest priority; 100 is the lowest priority.	Default: 50
Inactivity limit	Number of seconds to wait for jobs from a connected host before disconnecting. When the inactivity timer runs out, the receiver drops the connection with the host system. If the timer is set to 9999, it will never run out.	Default: 9999
Save resources	If Save resources is selected, the DPF host receiver acknowledges the public/private settings on the DPF resources that are downloaded with print jobs. Resources that were marked public on the host are stored in the DPF Resources Database for reuse later. Resources that were marked private cannot be reused. If Save resources is not selected, all DPF resources that are downloaded are considered private.	__ yes __ no
Obtain printer characteristics at start up	If selected, the receiver checks the printer settings every time the receiver connects to a host PSF and communicates any changes to the host system.	__ yes __ no

Jobs directory	The directory that the host receiver stores print jobs in until they are printed. For more information, see DPF working directories.
Resources directory	The directory that the host receiver stores job resources in. For more information, see DPF working directories.

Open the InfoPrint Manager Management Console and select Edit → New → DPF Host Receiver.

Use the information from the worksheet to complete the dialog. Make sure you click Class Set Up to configure your receiver classes with the information from DPF host receiver class set up worksheet. Click OK when you are finished.

Important: The first time you try to start this receiver and connect to your host system, make sure that the printer that it will submit jobs to is powered ON and is available.
