Character encoding
The AFP2PDF Transform uses the Unicode character encoding standard to reference characters
in TrueType fonts. If the AFP text is encoded in a format other than a standard Unicode
encoding (UTF-8 or UTF-16), the text must be converted to Unicode during the transformation
process. You may require new conversion tables that use the International Components
for Unicode (ICU) function.
The locale subdirectory is the default location for the ICU converter files (*.ucm). You can use the Locale_Path parameter in the transform options file to define a
directory that is different from the default. For more information, see Character encoding.
The files must have a .ucm extension and contain the code page ID. For example: ibm-500.ucm.
The code page ID is the numerical CPGID defined in the cpdef.fnt code page definition file. See Character encoding for more information.
