Software prerequisites for translated versions of InfoPrint Manager

You must install language support from the AIX operating system DVD-ROM, if it is not already installed, on to each AIX system that will run an InfoPrint server in a non-English supported language. InfoPrint Manager supports English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.

Note: To run InfoPrint Manager in a double-byte language like Japanese, you must configure your multilingual system so that the double-byte language is the default language.

Use the locale -a command to see if the base AIX support is installed for your language. If it is not installed, you must install it before proceeding further.

To install a language on an AIX operating system, use this procedure:

  1. From an AIX command line, access the SMIT fastpath by specifying: smit lang or smitty lang.
  2. Select the Add Additional Language Environments option.
  3. From the Add Additional Language Environments screen, click List next to the CULTURAL convention to Install field. Select the cultural convention that you want to install.
    Note: Languages that are already installed on this AIX system do not appear in this list.
  4. Click List next to the LANGUAGE translation to install field. Select the appropriate language.

  5. Make sure that the INPUT device/directory for software field shows your DVD-ROM drive.
  6. Click OK to install the language and cultural conventions.
