Creating an InfoPrint e-mail destination

Before you can send e-mail output through InfoPrint Manager, you must create an e-mail destination on your InfoPrint server. Use the Advanced InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface to do this task.
  1. Start the Advanced InfoPrint Manager Administration Interface by entering this from the command line: ipguiadvadm
  2. From the main window, click Other → Create → Email Destination.
Note: If the Email Destination option is not available under the Other → Create path, click the Options → Add/Remove Menu Items path and check the Create Email Destination from the Customize dialog. You can specify any actions (such as delete, enable, disable) from this dialog.
  3. In the first panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard:
    1. Specify a Name for the e-mail destination, such as email1.
    2. Specify the InfoPrintServer where you are creating the e-mail destination, such as server1.
  4. In the second panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, select a logical destination to feed this e-mail actual destination.

We recommend that you create a separate logical destination object (email-ld), so that the same logical destination does not feed jobs to both a printer and an e-mail destination. This step will make it easier for operators to monitor the progress of the jobs through the system and make it easier to diagnose problems.

  5. In the third panel (if you have decided to create a separate logical destination object in the preceding step), you can select where to put the new logical destination object.
  6. In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, you can decide to take the default configuration or to further customize this destination by:
    • Changing the InfoPrint logical destination to which jobs are routed (if different from the logical destination defined in the preceding step).
    • Specifying particular job batch values.
    • Modifying actual destination properties.

For purposes of this example, we take the default and apply the standard configuration.

  7. In the fourth panel of the Create Email Destination Wizard, accept the default to enable the destination so that you have an e-mail destination with a status of ready.
