Installing service updates for InfoPrint Manager and optional features

Before installing any service update, it is strongly recommended that you back up your InfoPrint Manager for Windows install directories, any directories that have been moved out from under the install directory since the initial installation of the product, and the Windows registry. Refer to Backing up your InfoPrint Manager for Windows install directories for a description of the steps involved in backing up your system.

Follow these steps to install a service update to the InfoPrint Manager server:

  1. Log in as the Administrator user.
  2. Insert the InfoPrint Manager for Windows service update DVD-ROM into your DVD-ROM drive. The install program will start automatically.
  3. Click Install InfoPrint Manager server.
  4. The license agreement displays. Read the license agreement and then click Accept.
  5. Follow the instructions on the installation screens to install the update. The destination directory and other necessary settings will be obtained automatically based on your initial installation.
Note: The service update install program might ask to update additional features at this time. If you click Yes to continue, you can follow the window prompts to install the updates when the features install are complete, the InfoPrint Manager service update installation resumes. If you choose not to install the update at this time, you can install it later from the main installation menu on the DVD.
  6. After you have installed InfoPrint Manager for Windows, the installation program asks to reboot your system. The default answer to this question is Yes because InfoPrint Manager will not function properly until the system is rebooted. When you click OK or press Enter, your system reboots, and the InfoPrint Manager service will start automatically.
To access all changes as they are released in service updates, make sure that the InfoPrint Manager server is at the same level or at a higher level of service than the InfoPrint Manager Administration GUI and the InfoPrint Manager Operations GUI. Otherwise, you might receive error messages like: 5010-625 Cannot recognize attribute.... For this to occur, the InfoPrint Manager Administration GUI or the InfoPrint Manager Operations GUI would have to be running on a different workstation than the InfoPrint Manager server. This might occur if you install a new version of a GUI on a workstation and point to a downlevel InfoPrint Manager server.

To install a service update to the PPFA Feature or the SAP Print or the Pad Features:

  4. Select the feature you want to update and follow the instructions on the installation screens. The destination directory and other necessary settings will be obtained automatically based on your initial installation.
