Adding the printer model to the pjlprtrs.cfg file

The pjlprtrs.cfg text file lists printer models that support setting wait-for-job-completion to true, but these printers either do not support SNMP, are not configured to use SNMP, or are not on when the InfoPrint Linux server is started. Some systems use the pjlprtrs.cfg file because they can create printers with the wait-for-job-completion attribute set to true, without having to verify through SNMP that the printer supports PJL. Without this capability, printers that have not been turned on would fail the SNMP/PJL test, and InfoPrint would automatically set the wait-for-job-completion attribute to false. This would force administrators to reset the attribute to true after they turn on the printer.

If you have determined that your printer does support correct job completion, but it does not support SNMP, you can add the printer model to the /usr/lpp/pd/bin/pjlprtrs.cfg file. Only printers that are known to support PJL should be added to this file. You can find the Linux CUPS printer drivers in the /usr/share/cups/model directory. The model names in pjlprtrs.cfg file must match the model names you specify for the destination-model actual destination attribute for the CUPS DSS.

A sample pjlprtrs.cfg file that lists the Imagio MP 5000 and Ricoh Pro 907EX printers looks like: 

Ricoh-Aficio_MP_5000_PS.ppd
Ricoh-Pro_907EX_PS.ppd
Note: Because both the Imagio MP 5000 and the Ricoh Pro 907EX support SNMP, you would only place those models in the pjlprtrs.cfg file if you were setting use-snmp to false on the corresponding actual destinations or the printers were turned off when your InfoPrint Manager for Linux server starts.
