Selecting from among a PSF, DFE, CUPS, and BSD DSS

Understanding the attachment types helps further determine which type of DSS to use for your printer. To upload jobs to z/OS or MVS, you should create one of the PSF upload attachment type actual destinations, depending on your communication protocol with PSF running on the host (TCP/IP). To drive an IPDS printer, you should create a PSF TCP/IP actual destination.

The most complex decisions concern when to use either a PSF Other, PSF Command, CUPS, BSD, or DFE DSS for printing. The following topics provide reasons for and against using particular DSSs.
