Creating and editing step chains
If you use the same set of connected steps in many of your workflows, you can create
a step chain with those steps. Then you can add the step chain to future workflows.
- Create a step chain manually:
- Click the Workflow tab.
- In the left pane, click Step Chains.
- Click Add.
- Fill in values for all the required fields and click CONTINUE.
- In the step chain editor, add and connect the steps you want to use.
- To save the step chain, click the menu (
) menu in the upper right corner and select Save step chain. - To exit the step chain editor, click the X in the upper right corner.
- Create a step chain from steps in an existing workflow
- Click the Workflow tab.
- In the left pane, click Workflows.
- Open the workflow that contains the steps you want to make into a step chain.
- Press the Shift key and drag your mouse to draw a box around the steps you want to include in the step chain.
- To remove some steps from the selection or add other steps that cannot be included in the box, use Ctrl + click or Shift + click to select or remove them.
- Right-click inside the box to bring up the context menu and select Save as step chain.
- Edit a step chain:
- Click the Workflow tab.
- In the left pane, click Step Chains.
- Click a step chain that you want to open.
- In the step chain editor, make your changes.
- To add an annotation, right-click and select Add annotation from the menu.
- Enter your comment and click Submit (
) to post the annotation.
The annotation is saved and visible in the step chain.
- To save the step chain, click Menu (
) in the upper right corner and select Save step chain.
- Note:
- After you add a step chain to a workflow, the changes made to the step chain are not applied to all workflows that include this step chain. The changes included in the step chain are visible in other workflows only if the step chain is added after the changes.
- If there are multiple workflows that include the step chain you modified, you must manually delete and add the step chain again. Another method is to make the same changes in all step chains already included in the workflows.
- To exit the step chain editor, click the X in the upper right corner.
