Migrating to a New Operating System

If you want to change your operating system, you can back up your data on your current machine and restore it on the new one. You can also restore your data from a 32–bit operating system onto a 64–bit operating system.
  • Read carefully the following migration procedure. Otherwise, you might lose important data during the process.
  • If you have a version lower than 3.1, upgrade your current TotalFlow Production Manager to 3.1 using the 3.1 installer.
  • For an optimal display of language characters, set the font to Consolas or Lucida. For information about changing the font, see Step 2 in Backing up Data, p 17.

Do these steps before running the migration procedure:

  1. Install TotalFlow Production Manager 4.2 on the destination machine. Do not perform any action on this newly installed system before the migration is complete.
  2. Copy these files from the TFPM_INSTALL_FOLDER\bin folder on the destination machine to your current machine:
    • migrateData.pl and migrateUnload.bat. You can copy them in any convenient location.
    • getLocaleMsg.pl. Copy it in TFPM_INSTALL_FOLDER\bin. You receive a message asking if you want to overwrite the older version of this file. Click Yes.

You can find the migration scripts in the scripts directory in the installation package of this product.
