Editing Jobs
After you create a job, you can use the functions of TotalFlow Prep to change the
page layout and edit the original pages. You can also specify job properties such
as imposition, paper, finishing, and output settings.

For better performance, we recommend that you work with up to 10 open jobs at a time.

The performance of the application depends on several factors, including the size of the job file, the system performance, and the overall load on the system.

- Specifying a Printer for the JobFor best results, register and select the printer that you want to use to print the job before you start editing the job settings. If you change the printer after you specify paper, imposition, finishing, or output settings, you might be prompted to adjust the specified job settings.
- Specifying Job InformationYou can specify useful details for the job such as the customer name, the job name, the user code, the job description, the print mode, banner page information, and special instructions.
- Changing Page LayoutsTotalFlow Prep lets you change the order and layout of the pages in the job, insert blank pages, insert other documents, set chapters, and run external programs to edit the job pages.
- Creating ChaptersYou can create chapters to organize the pages in the job.
- Using External Programs to Edit JobsYou can register external programs so that you can use them to edit jobs.
- Editing Original FilesAfter a job is created, you can use TotalFlow Prep to edit the original pages and add text, images, or masks. You can also deskew, despeckle, reposition, and rotate objects or pages.
- Specifying Paper SettingsYou can specify the paper and the input tray that you want to use for printing the job.
- Specifying Imposition SettingsImposition settings let you arrange the pages in the job according to where you expect them to be in the final product. For example, you can print multiple pages on a sheet or prepare booklets. Configuring imposition can increase efficiency especially for jobs with a large number of pages.
- Specifying Fifth Station SettingsFifth Station is a special marking station where you can select different toners to use. This gives you the option to print with a fifth color.
- Specifying Finishing SettingsYou can specify various finishing settings for printed documents, such as collating, stapling, hole punching, folding, binding, trimming, output tray, eject output, and printer features.
- Adding and Editing TabsTotalFlow Prep lets you insert tabs, convert pages to tabs, and configure tab presets. You can also print text and images on the tab ears and configure settings for ejecting unused tabs in a separate tray.
- Adding and Editing Bleed Edge TabsYou can add bleed edge tabs to create sections in the document. The bleed edge tabs are placed on the edge of the pages and can include text, images, and color patterns.
- Adding and Editing InsertsInserts are blank or preprinted sheets that are placed between the pages of the job. You can add inserts inside the job or modify the settings specified for existing inserts.
- Adding Page NumbersYou can add page numbers to the document before you print it.
- Adding a Header and FooterYou can add a header and footer to the document before you print it.
- Adding Page StampsYou can add page stamps to the document before you print it.
- Adding CoversYou can add cover sheets to a document when you print it. You can also print on the cover sheets.
- Adding Slip Sheets and Designation SheetsTotalFlow Prep lets you add slip sheets and designation sheets inside your jobs.
- Specifying Color SettingsYou can specify whether the job is printed in black and white or in full color.
- Specifying the Number of Copies to PrintYou can specify the number of copies to print.
- Specifying Exception SettingsYou can apply separate settings for specific sheets or pages in the job. For example, certain pages of the document can be set to print on blue paper and on one side only.
- Editing Jobs in the Browser Version of TotalFlow PrepYou can launch the browser version of TotalFlow Prep from TotalFlow Production Manager or from TotalFlow Print Server. After you finish editing the job, you can save it and submit it back to TotalFlow Production Manager or TotalFlow Print Server.
- Solving Job Setting ConflictsWhen you specify a job setting that is not compatible with current settings, a warning dialog box appears. The dialog box lists the conflicting options and provides information on how to solve the problem.
