Specifying Imposition Settings

Imposition settings let you arrange the pages in the job according to where you expect them to be in the final product. For example, you can print multiple pages on a sheet or prepare booklets. Configuring imposition can increase efficiency especially for jobs with a large number of pages.
To specify imposition settings:
  1. In the settings area on the right, click Impose.
    Open the Impose panel
  2. In the Impose panel, specify an imposition type by clicking Normal, Booklet, or Gangup.

  3. Configure all the necessary settings for the selected type of imposition.
    For details about a specific setting, click the Help button to display the on-screen field help.

In this section:

  1. Setting Normal Imposition
    If you select the normal imposition type for the job, the pages are printed in sequence one per sheet. You can configure several settings, including the printing side, orientation, scaling, finishing size, crop marks, bleed, image positioning, and image shift.
  2. Setting Booklet Imposition
    Booklet imposition lets you print the pages of a document in a booklet style. The pages are arranged and printed in a different order than in the original document so that they appear in the correct sequence after they are folded and bound.
  3. Setting Gangup Imposition
    You can use gangup imposition to combine multiple pages on a sheet of paper. Different layout options are available for the pages.
  4. Using Crop Marks for Trimming
    Crop marks are lines printed in the corners of each page to indicate where to trim the printed sheet.
  5. Specifying Orientation Settings
    You can use the Orientation menu on the toolbar to specify whether the sheets have a vertical or horizontal layout.
  6. Specifying Printing Side Settings
    You can use the Printing side menu on the toolbar to specify on which sides of the sheet to print and the direction in which the sheets open.
