If Paper Jams Occur Frequently

Check the paper condition. Also check how it is placed on the machine and that the paper size is correct.

Paper condition

Items to check Solution if applicable
Is the paper wrinkled, bent, or curled?
  • Do not use wrinkled, bent, or ripped paper.
  • When the paper is heavily curled, correct the curl before setting it on the machine.
Is the paper in the supported size or thickness? Place paper of the size and thickness that can be used on the machine.
Does the paper contain a lot of moisture? Use paper that is stored in a dry environment, and then perform printing again.

Keep color samples you receive from customers in a plastic bag to keep moisture away from them.

Is the paper sticking together? When placing more than one sheet of paper together, fan the sheets thoroughly every time before setting them on the paper tray.

Condition of the loaded paper

Items to check Solution if applicable
Is there a gap between the paper and paper guide? Is the paper guide set too tight against the paper? Adjust the paper guide to the paper size.
Is the paper tray used correctly?
  • Place the machine in a location where the paper tray and paper are not in contact with the surrounding wall or other object.
  • Pull out the extension tray when you place paper that extends beyond the edge of the tray (longer than A4 size paper in portrait orientation).
Are too many sheets of paper placed on the paper tray? Place paper on the paper tray so that it is not stacked above the upper limit indicator (Upper limit indicator) of the tray.

Paper size

Items to check Solution if applicable
When paper jams occur frequently in Quick Color Adjustment: Does the size of the color chart match the size specified in Scan Settings? On the Scan Settings screen, check that the size specified in Quick Color Adjustment matches the size of the paper used to print the chart.

If the sizes do not match, print the chart on paper of a matching size, or specify a size that matches the paper size in Scan Settings.

When paper jams occur frequently in Color Sample Matching:
  • Does the paper size of the color sample match the paper size specified in Golden Sample or the settings in Sub Scan?
  • Does the paper size of the printed original match the paper size specified in Before Color Matching or the settings in Sub Scan?
  • Are you using a small custom size paper (275 mm or 11.3 inches wide or narrower × 230 mm, 9.1 inches or shorter)?
  • Specify the size of the color sample in Golden Sample correctly before scanning it.
  • Specify the size of the printed original in Before Color Matching correctly before scanning it.
  • Change the direction of the paper loaded on the machine, specify Sub Scan again, and then perform scanning.
When paper jams occur frequently in Colorimetry:

Does the paper size of the printed chart match the Size of the chart for colorimetry that you specified?

Check that the Size of the chart for colorimetry that you specified matches the size of the paper specified for printing the chart.

When the sizes do not match, change the paper, or specify the correct chart for colorimetry according to the size of the paper.

    Note:
  • Enter the paper length along the sub scan direction of the paper to place on the machine in Scan Settings and Sub Scan.Sub Scan Direction
