Collecting Logs Using LogCollector

Use this section to collect log files using LogCollector. LogCollector is part of the RICOH Auto Color Adjuster.

It is recommended to collect files using LogCollector if any issue occurs while using the desktop application. However, it is mandatory to collect log files using LogCollector if one of the following situations occurs:

  • You cannot start the RICOH Auto Color Adjuster.
  • An error occurred in the desktop application while using any of the Quick Color Adjustment, Color Sample Matching, or Colorimetry dialogs.
      Important:
    • If you restart the RICOH Auto Color Adjuster or do any other actions in the application after the error occurred, the log file might not be relevant.

To collect logs using LogCollector:

  1. If you want to save the log files in the default location, use the LogCollector.exe file.
    1. On your local drive, go to C:\RicohAutoColorAdjuster\inst\LogCollector.
    2. Double-click LogCollector.exe.
Your log file is saved in PACK format under C:\RicohAutoColorAdjuster\Temp.
  2. If you want to select the location where to save the log files or to remove the log files once they are collected, use Command Prompt.
    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. In the File Explorer address bar, type C:\RicohAutoColorAdjuster\inst\LogCollector and press Enter.
    3. In the File Explorer address bar, replace the current folder path with cmd. Press Enter.
A Command Prompt dialog is opened.
    4. In the Command Prompt dialog, type LogCollector.exe [--output output folder path] [--move], where both --output and --move are optional parameters as follows:
      • --output is an optional parameter that allows specifying the output location. Add the folder path right after the parameter. If the folder path includes blank spaces, use quotes for the entire path.
      • --move is an optional parameter that triggers the application to attempt removing the traces from the disk after the log collection is complete.
    5. The log file in PACK format is saved under the selected output folder path.
