Workflow Overview

The physical color sample based on which colors are replicated is also called hard copy sample. Scan the hard copy sample or load the Source and Scanned Data, then print and scan the PDF source file. Afterwards, compare and match their colors using Color Sample Matching. Use the ICC profile generated by the color matching process to print the document using colors as similar to the hard copy sample as possible.
  1. If you have the saved PDF source file and the saved hard copy sample, load them.
  2. If you do not have the saved PDF source file and the saved hard copy sample, prepare the PDF source file and the hard copy sample.
    1. Print the document using the target printer and paper. The printed output is the reference sample obtained by printing the PDF source file with the printer default settings.Printing the PDF source file
    2. Select Color Sample Matching, then load the PDF file in the PDF Source File section.Loading the PDF source file
    3. Place the hard copy sample on the scanner input tray, then scan it.
  3. Place the printed reference sample on the scanner input tray, then scan it using the Scan button in the Printed Reference Sample section.Scanning the printed reference sample
  4. Execute color matching, then save the ICC profile.
  5. Save the PDF source file and the scanned data of the hard copy sample.
  6. Import the ICC profile to a DFE, and then print the PDF source file using the ICC profile.

The printer uses the new ICC profile to replicate the colors as closely as possible to the hard copy sample.
