Procedure

Follow the steps in this procedure to create a booklet using this application.

The instructions differ for booklet [A] and booklet [B]. Read the instructions for the booklet type you are creating.

Note: Leave any settings that are not identified in this procedure at their default values.

In this section:

  1. Step 1: Create a job from the sample file
    In this step, you will create a job from the sample file (Setup Guide.pdf).
  2. Step 2: Create chapters
    In this step, you will divide the pages into different chapters. This is important for setting page numbers later in the procedure.
  3. Step 3: Set the paper and the input tray
    In this step, you will specify the paper that you want to use for the job.
  4. Step 4: Insert text on the cover sheet
    In this step, you will insert the text Sample on the cover sheet.
  5. Step 5: Place an image on the page
    In this step, you will place the sample image files (L_A4.tif, R_A4.tif, L_LT.tif, R_LT.tif) on the edges of the pages.
  6. Step 6: Delete the images placed on the cover pages
    In this step, you will delete the images placed on the front and back cover pages.
  7. Step 7: Set imposition
    In this step, you will specify imposition settings.
  8. Step 8: Add page numbers
    In this step, you will configure the required settings to print page numbers.
  9. Step 9: Specify settings for adding tab stock
    In this step, you will specify settings to insert tab stock.
  10. Step 10: Specify finishing settings
    In this step, you will specify the required finishing settings to bind the booklet.
  11. Step 11: Preview the output and print the document
    In this step, you will preview the output to make sure that the specified settings have been correctly applied, and then you will print the document.
  12. Step 12: Save the job
    In this step, you will save the job in an RJF format. You can edit or print saved jobs later.
