Compare workflows

The Compare Workflows page lets you compare two workflows on the same system or in an export package. Comparing workflows helps you analyze the differences and similarities between them.

You can use the Compare Workflows page to identify changes and review the workflow at both a structural and visual level. The comparison process highlights components that are different and items that exist only in one workflow, letting you to quickly understand how workflows differ.

Depending on your environment, workflows can be selected from the local system or from an XML or ZIP file exported from another system. After both workflows are selected, start the comparison to generate results. The comparison process analyzes the attributes, steps, step chains, and connectors to determine similarities and differences.

Visual Comparison
The Visual Comparison tab provides a graphical representation of both workflows. You can view workflows either side by side or horizontally aligned, depending on your preference. In this view, the differences display in red while the similarities display in gray. Matching elements are aligned automatically to help you follow execution flow across both workflows. You can scroll both workflows simultaneously by dragging one of the compared workflows.
Properties
The Properties tab shows the properties that are set or not set in the compared workflows. If a property is not set, you can set it directly from the Properties tab.
Steps
The Steps tab shows the list of steps that are present or absent in the compared workflows.
Step chains
The Step chains tab shows the list of step chains that are present or absent in the compared workflows.
Connectors
The Connectors tab shows the list of connectors that are present, absent, or different in the compared workflows. If the connectors are different, you can select Compare connectors from the contextual menu and view the connectors in the Connector comparison page.

You can open the property notebooks for steps, step chains, and connectors that are marked as present in the comparison table. When you save the changes and if the workflow is enabled, the system automatically disables it during the save operation and then enables it again. Any changes you make are reflected in the visual workflow editor when you open the step, step chain, or connector.

For each category, you can export the differences as a CSV file using the Export Table to CSV option from the upper-right corner.
