Lead and alternate primary servers
The lead primary server and the alternate primary server must both meet the minimum
hardware requirements for the RICOH ProcessDirector base product and any features you plan to install.
Both the lead primary server and the alternate primary server must run the same operating system family. The operating system version, release, and service updates must be identical on both servers. See Supported operating systems and database compatibility.
- Verify that each primary server meets the minimum hardware requirements.
Minimum hardware requirements for primary servers
Resource Requirement Processor x86 computer capable of running a supported 64-bit Linux operating system CPU cores Minimum 4 physical CPU cores RAM Minimum 8 GB available RAM Hard-drive space 200 GB free Network Reliable, low-latency connection to the file server (NFS) and the database server - If you plan to use one or more document processing features, verify that each primary
server has a minimum of 16 GB available RAM.
Document processing features include:
- AFP Support
- PDF Document Support
- Archive
- Automated Verification
- Inserter
- Postal Enablement
- Preference Management
Depending on the number of documents you process, you might need more RAM.
- If you plan to install the Advanced Transform feature or RICOH Transform features, verify that each primary server has the additional resources listed in the following
table.
Additional hardware requirements for features
Feature Additional requirement Advanced Transform Minimum 1 GB additional free hard-drive space in the /optfile system; minimum 2 GB additional free space in the/aiw/aiw1file systemRICOH Transform features Minimum 10 GB additional free hard-drive space; 1 GB additional RAM per CPU core (minimum 4 GB additional) - If you run RICOH ProcessDirector on a virtual machine (VM), define the VM guest so that the number of dedicated CPUs
exceeds the minimum hardware requirements.
Do not overcommit physical CPU resources on the virtual host.
