Supported operating systems and database compatibility
A multiple primary servers environment requires a separately installed database on
a dedicated database server. Verify that your operating system and database selections
are supported before you begin installation.
The database included with RICOH ProcessDirector is not supported in a multiple primary servers configuration. You must install your own copy of PostgreSQL or IBM DB2 on a dedicated database server.
- Verify that the operating system you plan to install on the lead primary server, alternate
primary server, and secondary servers is listed in the following table.
Supported operating system and database configurations
Operating system Supported PostgreSQL configurations Supported IBM DB2 configurations Red Hat 9.2 through latest 9.x Separately installed version Separately installed IBM DB2 Red Hat 10.0 through latest 10.x Separately installed version (requires PostgreSQL 16 or higher) Not supported Rocky Linux 9.0 through latest 9.x Separately installed version Not supported Rocky Linux 10.0 through latest 10.x Separately installed version (requires PostgreSQL 16 or higher) Not supported SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 15.0 SP1 or above for x86_64 Separately installed version Separately installed IBM DB2 SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 16.0 or above for x86_64 Separately installed version (requires PostgreSQL 16 or higher) Not supported - Verify that both the lead primary server and the alternate primary server run the
same operating system family (for example, both Red Hat or both SLES).
The operating system version, release, and service updates must be identical on both primary servers.
- Select a database for your multiple primary servers environment.
- PostgreSQL — Install your own copy of PostgreSQL on the dedicated database server.
- IBM DB2 — Install your own DB2 server on the dedicated database server, and install a DB2 client on the lead primary server, the alternate primary server, and the UI server.
The UI server and the file server do not require a specific operating system version from the table above. Consult your system administrator to select an appropriate Linux distribution for these servers.
