Task checklist: Planning for a multiple primary servers environment

Complete these tasks before you install RICOH ProcessDirector in a multiple primary servers configuration. A multiple primary servers environment distributes components across five dedicated servers.

Prepare the servers in this order:

  1. File server
  2. Database server
  3. Lead primary server
  4. Alternate primary server
  5. UI server

After you prepare the hardware and operating systems, complete these configuration steps in sequence:

  1. Obtain required hardware for all five servers.
  2. Install a supported operating system, including required libraries and tools.
  3. Verify network connectivity and required ports between all servers.
  4. Create system users and groups on all servers that require them.
  5. Configure the file server and enable NFS.
  6. Install PostgreSQL or IBM DB2 on the database server.
  7. Install the PostgreSQL or IBM DB2 client on both primary servers.
  8. Install optional software on both primary servers.
  9. Configure HTTPS connection support on both primary servers.
  10. Run the prerequisite checker on both primary servers and the UI server.
  11. Configure SSH authentication between the lead primary, alternate primary, and UI servers.
