color-bits-per-plane

For PSF, specifies whether the transform is to produce monochrome (FS10) or color images (FS42 or FS45).

For CUPS destinations, specifies whether InfoPrint Manager is to pass to the underlying printing system the corresponding driver option which produces monochrome or color output. For more information, see "Mapping Attributes and Values to PPD Options" in the RICOH InfoPrint Manager for Linux: Getting Started.

Allowed Values

You can enter one of these fixed values:

  • 0-bits (monochrome FS10 for PSF and Email, monochrome for CUPS and DFE)
  • 1-bit (color FS42 for PSF and Email)
  • 8-bits (color FS45 for PSF and Email, color for CUPS and DFE)

Default Value

For InfoPrint 5000, RICOH Pro C7500, RICOH Pro C9500, and the RICOH Pro VC series printers, the default is 8-bits.

For DFE printers, the default is 8-bits.

For all other actual destinations, the default is 0-bits.

Usage Guidelines

  • For Email and PSF
    • If you use this attribute, verify if the transform, driver, and printer support these options.
    • For GIF, JPEG, PCL, PDF, PostScript, and TIFF document formats, the value derived from the color-bits-per-plane attribute overwrites the value of the image-out-format attribute.
    • For the Email DSS, PSF-Command DSS, and PSF-Other DSS, this attribute is only supported for PCL, PDF, or PostScript document formats.
    • For the sap2afp transform, if the value of this attribute is 8-bits (FS45), InfoPrint Manager requests FS45 transform output. Otherwise, the attribute is ignored.
  • For CUPS and DFE
    • InfoPrint Manager does not transform the data, it passes the corresponding driver option to the underlying printing system.
