Using InfoPrint Manager LPD and an LPR client
The InfoPrint Manager Line Printer Daemon (LPD) is a utility that lets you submit print jobs from other operating systems using a Line Printer (LPR) client. To submit print jobs with finishing to the InfoPrint Manager LPD, you must use an LPR client, such as lprafp, that lets you use –o options to specify advanced printing options (for example, form definitions and page definitions) when you submit jobs to InfoPrint Manager. You can either specify finishing attributes on the submission command or use a default job.
On a Windows server, the InfoPrint Manager LPD is the only LPD that properly processes the –o options that lprafp submits. If you use a different LPD (such as TCP/IP Print Services, the LPD supplied with the Windows operating system), the –o options that you send will be lost. You can download an lprafp sample code package from the Ricoh website at https://dl.ricohsoftware.com/downloads/375bc3fe-3080-401f-91c4-2b8adb607f89. The package includes executable forms of the lprafp client for the Windows and AIX (Version 4.3.3 Build Level 9 and later) platforms. You can also compile this code to use it on other platforms. Ricoh does not provide support for the package.
