Low, Workgroup, and Medium speed printing

This type of printing assumes the use of hundreds of cut sheet printers.

Configuration:

  • 300 Actual destinations were created.

  • Only PSF-Other or AIX/CUPS Actual Destinations were used.

  • Each Actual Destination was assigned to a different printer.

  • The same job was sent to disabled Actual Destinations.

  • All Actual Destinations were enabled at once.

  • The destination configuration model used was desktop destination configuration model. In practice, the most used destinations are PSF-Other destinations (SAP->AFP->PCL) and AIX/CUPS destinations (PCL/PS->Printer).

    Note:
  • For optimal results, the maximum recommended number of Actual Destinations must not be higher than 300. For more then 300 Actual Destinations, a new pdserver is needed.

  • Many factors affect the memory required for a pdserver. The memory required is not linear to the number of objects in the pdserver
