DSS

AIX, BSD, CUPS, DFE, PSF, IPP, Passthrough

Type

Non-settable (AIX, CUPS, and PSF) or resettable (BSD, IPP, and Passthrough), multi-valued

Allowed Values

AIX, CUPS, and DFE
InfoPrint Manager sets the values for this attribute based on the values of the input-trays-medium attribute.
BSD
You can enter any values of the media-supported attribute.
PSF
InfoPrint Manager sets the values for this attribute based on the values of the psf-tray-characteristics attribute.
IPP and Passthrough
You can enter any values of the media-supported attribute.

Default Values

For AIX, BSD, CUPS, PSF actual destinations, Passthrough, and IPP, if SNMP communication is active, InfoPrint Manager queries the printer device and sets the values according to the response; otherwise, see the following list.

For DFE actual destinations, InfoPrint Manager queries the DFE server media catalog and sets the values according to the response; otherwise:

AIX, CUPS, and DFE
The default comes from the values of the input-trays-medium attribute.
BSD
No default value
PSF
The default comes from the values of the psf-tray-characteristics attribute.
IPP
The default value comes from IPP.
Passthrough
There is no default.

Usage Guidelines

  • InfoPrint Manager restricts the possible values for this attribute to the values currently specified for the media-supported attribute.
  • InfoPrint Manager compares the document attribute default-medium to this attribute for job scheduling.
  • The InfoPrint Manager server can automatically set the value for media-ready based on the input-trays-medium or psf-tray-characteristics actual destination attribute for an SNMP printer only if you do not explicitly set the attribute when creating or modifying the actual destination.
Note: For media, the automatic default only detects the size of the medium. If you have different media that are the same size (for example, three different letter-size preprinted forms) and you need to differentiate between them in the attributes, you must explicitly set the attributes instead of using the automatic default.
