Shutting down a pdserver

You can shut down a pdserver many ways. Perhaps on AIX the easiest is to use the Stop a pdserver SMIT panel (smit pd_stop_server. This panel presents different levels of shutting down the pdserver:

  • Select now if you want the server to shut down immediately, cancelling any jobs currently printing on the actual destinations contained in the server.
  • Select after-current if you want the server to shut down after the jobs printing currently on the actual destinations in the server have completed.
  • Select after-all if you want the server to shut down after the all jobs printing currently on the actual destinations in the server have completed. This includes all pending, processing, and printing jobs.

On Linux you can start a pdserver from the InfoPrint Manager Management Interface, go to InfoPrint Manager->Servers -> Stop.

You can also shut down the pdserver with the stop_server and pdshutdown commands. For information about these commands, see the “InfoPrint Manager Tools” chapter in RICOH InfoPrint Manager: Reference.

Note: The server is not really shut down until the PDB shutdown message is logged. The prompt comes back before the server is completely shut down. That is, the pdshutdown command returns success before the server is completely shut down.
