Generating PDF/A compliant documents

To generate PDF/A compliant PDF files, set the -pragma pdf_compliance command line parameter to PDF/A. See Flags and values, for more information.

The conditions for a PDF/A compliant document depend on the information that can be found in the input AFP file:

  • All fonts must be embedded within the PDF file. The output PDF file is not PDF/A compliant if the AFP file does not have the font resources embedded or if the resources are external and the apf2pdf transform is configured to map the fonts.
  • All fonts must have Unicode mapping for all characters.

    Note:
  • You receive an error message if the PDF cannot be transformed into a PDF/A compliant document.
