Usage Guidelines
- When you use reverse-page-order, there is a delay before a job begins printing because the entire job must rip before the pages can be printed in reverse order.
- When you use reverse-page-order, the explicit-page-placement attribute and the form definition can be affected. While the reverse-page-order attribute reverses the order of the pages in the job, it does not alter the layout that InfoPrint Manager uses for the job. This can result in the pages of the job appearing in different positions on the sheet than if reverse-page-order were not used. For example, with a two-page job, if the form definition has the front page offset by a certain amount, but not the back page, then after reversing the job, page 2, which is now first to be output, will be offset instead of page 1, which is now on the back of the sheet. To fix this situation, the form definition and other attributes (such as, overlay, overlay-front, overlay-back, x-image shift, x-image-shift-back, y-image-shift, and y-image-shift-back) should be modified to get the correct placement of the pages on the output sheets. This modification needs to be done by the user or system administrator.
- The reverse-page-order attribute does not apply to ASCII, booklet jobs, or simple-n-up jobs.
- When using reverse-page-order with simplex jobs, a blank page can be added at the front of the document if the document has an odd number of pages.
- When using reverse-page-order with slit-and-merge value on the output-format attribute, a blank sheet can be added if more than one blank page would be needed to make the document a multiple of 4 pages. For instance, if the document has 1 or 2 pages, 5 or 6 pages, 9 or 10 pages, then a blank sheet is added to the end of the reversed job, after the first page from the input file. This would mean that, when flipping the output over, the blank sheet is in front of page 1. For cases where no pages need to be added, or only one page needs to be added, as in the case of a 7 or 8-page document, the output does not contain any blank sheets.
