Using the df command

You can see how your system uses space in a single file system by using the df command. To manually display the space on the file system where your current directory is located, enter this command on the command line:
df .

This system displays this:

Filesystem    512-blocks      Free %Used    Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/hd1           16384     15368    7%      136     7% /home
